One Vision, Working Together
Waterfront Development - The Next 5 Years
For Immediate Release – October 4, 2007
(Saint John, NB) It’s been four years since we unveiled the new vision for the Waterfront with the release of the Saint John Inner Harbour Land Use Plan. Being a 15-year vision, we are now approaching the 1/3 mark in the process and we are currently organizing our projects for the next 5 years. On Friday, October 5th, Cyndi Rottenberg-Walker, Partner with Urban Strategies Inc., and the consultant hired to chart a vision for the waterfront will be delivering a keynote presentation at the day-long conference. During her address she will be providing an assessment of progress to the Partners of Saint John Waterfront Development.
The Saint John Inner Harbour Land Use Plan was prepared over an intensive 12-month period and is based on input received from over 500 individuals, stakeholders and organizations. The plan highlights a strong system of fully connected, high quality public spaces that will be the hallmark of the Saint John Waterfront, connecting it to the Uptown and forming the framework around which high quality private development will be organized. Saint John is truly becoming a city that is a more attractive place to visit, work, live, play and invest.
Operating under the direction of the Saint John Development Corporation, and reporting to Saint John Common Council, Saint John Waterfront Development is comprised of the City of Saint John, Province of New Brunswick, Uptown Saint John Inc., Enterprise Saint John Inc., Saint John Board of Trade and the Saint John Port Authority. The Partnership’s mandate is to channel, focus and direct the community of Greater Saint John’s collective energy and enthusiasm for waterfront development.
