Saint John New Car Automobile Dealers Give Additional $25,000 to Harbour Passage!

(Saint John, NB) – The Saint John Automobile Dealers Association (SJADA) has fulfilled a pledge made in 2003 to donate $50,000 to the Harbour Passage Project!
Richard Buckley, President of the SJADA, presented a cheque today for $25,000 to Mayor Norm McFarlane, the second such cheque in two years. An initial donation of $25,000 was made in 2003 with a promise to match that amount in 2004.
“We are thrilled to receive this cheque from the members of the Saint John Auto Dealers Association”, said Bill MacMackin, President of the Saint John Waterfront Development Partnership. “The total donation of $50,000 makes the Association a Founding Partner of Harbour Passage and we are very grateful for this generous donation.”
“We are pleased to be able to make this donation to Harbour Passage”, stated Mr. Buckley. “We feel this is a highly worthwhile project that has made a very positive impact on the city and it’s citizens. We are honoured to be a part of it.”
“Private sector donations have totaled over $1,000,000 since the Harbour Passage Project began”, stated Ross Jefferson, General Manager of the Waterfront Development Partnership “It is through the donations of interested citizens and businesses that this project will continue on through to the west side. The outstanding community involvement with this project has been far beyond our expectations and we look forward to expanding the passage to the west side.”
A total of over $4.4 million for the Harbour Passage Project has been raised from donations from private citizens and business as well as the three levels of government since fundraising began in 2002.
