For immediate Release – May 29, 2008

(Saint John, NB) – The City of Saint John, Saint John Waterfront Development and tourism and business partners invite you to participate in a public input session to help us develop Reversing Falls into a destination that will attract and showcase this phenomena and our City to the world.

On June 4th from 5:45 PM to 9 PM Glenn Group Ltd. in association with partnering firms will be on hand for a public input and consultation session.  Plans are underway to expand the walking trail by adding elements including more public green spaces, designed to create positive and lasting impressions of the region.  The evening will begin with a walking tour of Reversing Falls and Falls View Park and continue with public presentations at the New Brunswick Museum at Market Square.  Pre-registration is required by contacting Saint John Waterfront Development at 674 4278 or via email info@sjwaterfront.com.

Bill MacMackin, President of the Waterfront Development agrees that developing the Reversing Falls area is vital to Saint John. “The significance of Reversing Falls to the tourism industry in Saint John can’t be under estimated. Clearly we need a viable route for citizens and visitors alike to enjoy our beautiful inner harbour to the Reversing Falls.”

Reversing Falls shapes the landscape of our City and is unique to the world.  This area has all the elements to become a unique world class tourism destination - culture, heritage, industry, nature and geology.  Be part of shaping the Reversing Falls as a unique world class tourism destination!

“Harbour Passage is the journey that leads one to the Reversing Falls where the dynamic interaction of the river and bay impact everyday in the life of Saint John” says Daniel Glenn, Project Manager, Glenn Group Ltd.   “Embracing the potential of the Reversing Falls as a world class attraction is the city’s next great opportunity”.

This public input session will provide an introduction to the study process, invitation to the upcoming design charrette, opportunity comments and input, presentation boards, establish ongoing dialogue with stakeholders and provide expectations and process to a vision.

Saint John Waterfront Development is comprised of the City of Saint John, Province of New Brunswick, Uptown Saint John Inc., Enterprise Saint John Inc., Saint John Board of Trade, and the Saint John Port Authority.  The mandate is to channel, focus, and direct the community of Greater Saint John’s collective energy and enthusiasm for waterfront development.
