Waterfront Question and Answer Session Scheduled for Wednesday

For Immediate Release

The public is invited to view the final concept drawings for the Market Square Boardwalk and participate in a question and answer session.

(Saint John, NB) – With the resounding success of Harbour Passage to build upon, Saint John Waterfront Development (SJWD) is looking to revitalize Saint John’s original waterfront trail – the Market Square Boardwalk.  ADI Limited and O’Halloran Campbell Consultants, a member of the ADI Group and the original designers of the Market Square sea wall, have been engaged to produce a master plan concept for the redevelopment of the boardwalk as well as to design the first phase of improvements.

In order to disclose the final concept drawing for the Market Square Boardwalk, the public is invited to an evening question and answer session where the project designers will reveal the results of the previous meetings and questionnaires. The question and answer session will be held on Wednesday, March 11th between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm on the lower level of the Hilton Hotel in the Belleisle I & II rooms.  This will consist of a one-on-one style question and answer session.

“The boardwalk has been around for nearly 25 years and has become a central component of Harbour Passage. It will now begin a new phase in its life,” says Michael Baldwin, General Manager of SJWD.  “We are excited about the concept plan that has been developed with public input. We are looking forward to construction in the summer.”  ADI architect and boardwalk redevelopment project manager Jean-Philippe Foisy echoes Baldwin’s sentiments.  “The Market Square Boardwalk is an integral link between two phases of Harbour Passage and an important part of the Uptown’s vitality.  The boardwalk has the potential to be the jewel in the crown of Saint John’s waterfront trail system.”

Saint John Waterfront Development’s mandate is to channel, focus, and direct the community of Greater Saint John’s collective energy and enthusiasm for waterfront development.  Its partners include the City of Saint John, Province of New Brunswick, Uptown Saint John Inc., Enterprise Saint John, Saint John Board of Trade and Saint John Port Authority.
